According to Ron Couri, Couristan's CEO and President, importing area rugs from Persia was a difficult task. It was quite an adventure.
About Couristan For over 75 years Couristan, Inc. Kashimar's interesting array of shapes - octagons, ovals, rounds and squares - creates endless decorating possibilities.
At the time, the company began affixing "Couristan" trademark labels to the back of each and every rug it imported. Couri, and appropriately named "Couri Brothers," the company began its humble beginnings by importing fine handmade area rugs from Persia. This marriage of past and present is the key to Kashimar's success. This mark was composed from the family's surname "Couri" and the frequently used suffix "stan", referring to the region of small weaving villages in which the company imported its rugs from. The company would quickly begin to broaden its horizons, as well as its area rug offerings by importing rugs from India in 1927. Create a subtle accent with a 2' 2" x 4' 9" size, or go for the grandeur with an 11' 7" x 17' 9" room-sized rug.
